The future may have been unclear in the late 1940s, farming was, and is, our way of living. Twenty years ago, Westlane's home-style approach to business led us to the Blonde d'Aquitaine cattle. Pleased with the results the Blonde influence has given our commercial herd, adding muscle, heavier weights, and excellent cutability on the carcass, we have continued to use the Blonde, as well as the Simmental and Charolais cows.

Our desire to incorporate this breed into our business has brought considerable growth. The driving force has been to maintain our personal philosophy on happy, healthy living. We choose only the best quality animals to produce a health-conscious product. At Westlane, we believe there is no need for hormones to speed growth, or antibiotics to counter overcrowded or stressful feedlot conditions. We believe beef achieves its leanness naturally, through the selection of cattle breeds and a successful and logical feeding program, based on grazing and naturally fed grains.
